![]() by, Layla, Mikayla, and Kamrynne Dolphins can be amazing creatures. The Body The dolphin’s blowhole lets the air go in and out of the body. It is located on the top of the body. Its tail is made up of two fins called flukes. The tail makes the dolphin move forward. The dolphin has a pair of pectoral fins and one dorsal fin. The pectoral fins are on either side of the dolphins body and the dorsal fin is on top behind the blowhole. The pectoral fins are used for steering the dolphin’s body left and right. The dorsal fin is used for keeping the dolphin steady. Appetite A vegetarian is a person or creature that eats only vegetables. A carnivore is a person or creature that only eats meat. An omnivore is a person or creature that eats both meat and vegetables. Dolphins are carnivores. Dolphins do have teeth like regular animals but don't chew when they eat their food, they only bite their food and then swallow to get the food down. The types of food that dolphins eat the following: shrimp, squid, jellyfish, fish and octopus. Dolphins babies Dolphins babies are born aliv .The fins aren't firm when they're are born but they stiffen up in a couple of months. Dolphins babies nurse underwater close to the surface of the water. Those are some of the most interesting features about dolphins.
