A narwhal is a very fascinating and beautiful mammal.
The narwhal's tusk is not a unicorn horn. It’s believed to be a tooth. The tusk is usually twisted counter-clockwise. It also has a hollow inside. A narwhal’s tusk can be used as jousting weapon for attracting females. Narwhals are seen in the icy waters of the Arctic seas. In the winter time narwhals will dive deep under the ice in groups of 5 to 10 mammals. In the summer, they tend to migrate to shallow ice free waters. Then they form a bigger pod of narwhals. This ocean animal feeds on flatfish, cod, shrimp, gonatus squid and forms of benthic prey. Narwhal's will dive a distance known to be 5,000 feet deep. That’s the deepest narwhals can go. A narwhal uses echolocation to find its prey and knows if objects are blocking its path. Narwhal's are unique creatures inside and out. After all, they are the unicorns of the sea.
